Founded in 1986, the Center for Economic Research on Africa works to foster closer understanding of the scope and consequences of economic policies in Africa, U.S. policies toward Africa, and how specific policy alternatives bear on international relationships between the two regions. It does so through the organization of periodic conferences designed to bring together policy experts involved with major issues facing African decision-makers, through the publication of research monographs designed to examine in depth particular aspects of economic issues involving Africa's economic policies within a global context, and through the provision of specific technical services to meet the needs of selected institutions consistent with the overall mission of the Center. The Center works in close collaboration with the Department of Economics and Finance of the School of Business, with the Global Education Center and associated internal organizations and programs of Montclair State University, as well as with externally affiliated institutions. The conference series has brought to the campus representatives from major policy institutions such as the African Development Bank, the Council on Foreign Relations, the International Monetary Fund, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the United Nations Development Program, the World Bank, and other distinguished organizations to address ongoing issues of concern to the U.S. and international African community. The Center has published the proceedings of the past nine conferences, and has published over 60 research monographs on technical issues relating to Africa's international economic development. CERAF publications are shared with other distinguished research institutions in the United States, Africa, and Europe. For additional information, you may reach us via any of the following:
