CCM Committee Charge:

The VALE Cooperative Collection Management Committee will:

1. Raise awareness of last copy, repository and other collection management issues. Specific objectives include:
   • Propose Model Last Copy Policy for VALE Libraries based on accepted best practices; and

   • Monitor national digital initiatives, such as Google Open Content Alliance and PubMedCentral, and evaluate their impact on collection management in academic libraries.

2. Develop resources for Cooperative Collection Management among VALE libraries. Specific objectives include:
   • Examine options for implementing the WorldCat Collection Analysis Tool with a group of academic libraries in New Jersey; and

   • Conduct workshops to raise awareness about standards to address preservation issues as well as retention issues of print resources.

Ongoing Goals of the Committee are:

• To share information and explore common issues in collection management and development in academic libraries;

• To promote innovative ideas and effective measures in the field of collection management; and

• To foster cooperative effort in resource-sharing among VALE member libraries.
