Building Communities in Humanities Scholarly Publishing
ACRL-NY 2004 Symposium Poster Session
Abstract: Are there scholarly communication initiatives for building communities in humanities scholarly publishing, such as the Association of Research Libraries' Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) initiative for the sciences?
This poster session will:
- Describe the current crisis in humanities scholarly publishing;
- Propose future scenarios for the monograph in humanities scholarly publishing;
- Discuss how the open access repository ARL movement affect humanities
scholarly publishing;
- Describe models such as MITH - The Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities and the New Jersey Digital Highway for building partnerships; and
- Project where the humanities scholarly publishing community could be in the next five years.
