Pediatric Neuroscience Laboratory
Dr. Nooner and her team conduct functional neuroimaging research to better understand the challenges of children and adolescents with histories of trauma. Her laboratory is housed at Montclair State University and the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research (NKI). In collaboration with child psychiatrists and neuroimaging innovators, F. Xavier Castellanos, M.D., and Michael Milham, M.D., Ph.D., her lab expores functional brain networks associated with trauma and associated difficulties such as, attention problems, substance use, suicide, and other negative behaviors.
Dr. Nooner is an active faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Montclair State University, where she mentors undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of research projects related to clinical child psychology. Dr. Nooner's primary research in psychopathology attempts to bridge and integrate clinical and epidemiological approaches with neuroscience and evidence based interventions for maltreated youth. Using both approaches, Dr. Nooner and the Pediatric Neuroscience Lab explore the longitudinal course of childhood maltreatment with the goal of identifying trajectories of resilience.
