Download and listen carefully to Prof. John V. Fleming's lecture on the Roman de la Rose (Romance of the Rose) - "RomRose1.rm" or "RomRose1.mp3" and following, 6 in all.
This is a brilliant lecture (in my opinion, at least). It is well worth listening to repeatedly.
Suggestion: Try the .mp3 file first. .RM is an old file format, though it works perfectly well.
If you have not done so, you should download the free and excellent media player VLC. Here is the download site for Windows and Mac.
Assignment:
Make careful notes on this lecture. You will have to listen to it at least twice. This will be a pleasant occupation, as it is very enjoyable!
Written Assignment:
Email your carefully typed-up notes to me, NOT to your group. I want to make sure everybody listens to this lecture, and does not merely copy another student's note.
Your notes may be as long as you think necessary. Certainly no shorter than 350 words. Remember, you are going to be responsible for the content of this lecture.
We will discuss it in class.Bring your notes to class, either printed out or on your laptop or tablet (NOT your mobile phone).
