Term Project: Annotated Chaucer Passage

Your assignment is to pick any passage from any part of the Canterbury Tales except the General Prolog, and write an informed commentary on it.

Your passage should be at least 30 lines of text in length. Obviously, it should not start and stop arbitrarily -- e.g., not in mid-sentence.

Your commentary should draw upon at least five articles and/or books. We will discuss in class the materials available to you.

The central part of your assignment is to know your passage very well, in Middle English, of course. So you should start by choosing your passage, from among the Tales in our textbook.

Format: Follow the MLA format on the Purdue Online Writing Lab page. The links on the left-hand column will give you all the information you need.

Due date: Wednesday, December 11, 11:59 p.m.

Last Day of our Class: Monday, December 9
