D.W. Robertson, Jr., "Medieval Life and Ideals"

This essay - "Robertson, Medieval Life and ideals w. illustrations.pdf" -- is on our Canvas page.

Please download it and read it carefully. You will probably have to read it several times.

(Note: the same essay is in "Chaucer -- Short Poems, Introductory Materials.pdf", on our Canvas space. Please download this file too. We will be using it in future classes. But the illustrations are much better in the file I have prepared, and the text too is easier to read. So that's the one to read for today.)

Write an outline of the essay. Write it in outline form, but in full sentences. Make sure you have one entry in your outline for each paragraph. This will help you to understand Robertson's conception of medieval ideas, and how they are related to one another.

Email your outline to me. Bring both texts -- the essay, and your outlines -- to class with you for discussion.

If you will access them on your laptop / tablet / netbook, please download them, in case we have network connection problems.
