The Narrator in Melville's "Bartleby the Scrivener"

Reread Foley's article "From Wall Street to Astor Place", and any notes you have made on BtS.

Today we're going to consider the narrator of the story:

• who he is;
• what he thinks about;
• how and what he thinks about his employees;
• how he treats his employees;
• what his values are;
• how he thinks about himself;
• what he does.

Please write 300 - 350 words on at least four of these points. Refer to the text whenever possible for evidence for your conclusions. You may quote, but the quotations do NOT count toward the 300-350 words of your essay, since they are not "your writing."
