Putting Your New Web Page onto the Internet

Your assignment is to put your new Web page up onto the Internet. Here are the details of the assignment:

1. You must use NetScape Composer to compose your web page (don't worry -- I'll be able to tell whether you did or not) The purpose of this requirement isn't to harrass you, but to make sure you are getting some practice in using one of the more widely-used HTML editors available -- NetScape Composer. It's free, and comes as a component part of NetScape Communicator, which you were supposed to download already.

2. You must use FTP to upload your web page to your server. In a previous assignment, you were instructed how to download a very widely-used FTP client, WS_FTP 95 (for Windows 95). You can also use QVT/FTP, if you prefer, since that's the program available on our lab computers.

3. IMPORTANT:  you must make sure your new web page has the following:

• at least one image. I've shown you how to find images and download images from the Internet, and how to insert them using Composer.
• at least one hyperlink to another page on the Worldwide Web. I have also showed you how to do this in Composer.
• a TITLE. In Composer -- unlike some other HTML editors -- it's hard or impossible to create a Web page without a title. Titles are important -- they are the text at the top border of your browser, and on the toolbar button on Windows 95.

4. Email me the URL for your Web page.
