Piri Thomas - Final Assignment

Please read the following two texts:

• "Afterword to the Thirtieth-Anniversary Edition", Down These Mean Streets (Vintage Book 1997 edition), pp. 333-337. It is also online here.
• "Interview With Piri Thomas" (1997; published 1998), Inmotion magazine. Read all three parts, right to the end.

Discuss Thomas' analysis of the present; of how the world has changed since his youth. This is mainly in the "Afterword", and bears most directly on his book.

How does Thomas view himself in this process? The interview will be helpful here.

Pick three passages: two from the "Afterword" and one from the interviews. Analyze them in detail.
