ASSIGNMENT ON 'TRIAL OF DEDAN KIMATHI', No. 1

is the kind of society that the Freedom Fighters are fighting for. 

     Ngugi's play, written 15 years after Independence from Great
Britain but about the period over 20 years earlier, during the War for
Independence (the 'Mau-mau War'), poses the question: Whose interest
will be served by the new society that is to be build AFTER the
imperialists are defeated? What kind of society will that be?

     Please write 300 words (about 30 lines) on the TWO or THREE
passages you have found. But don't summarize them -- instead, analyze
