FECC 2021

The 1st IEEE International Workshop on Advances in Fog, Edge, and Cloud Computing (FECC 2021)

In conjunction with the 18th IEEE International Conference on Mobile Ad-Hoc and Smart Systems (IEEE MASS 2021)

October 4 - 7, 2021, Denver, CO, USA

THE WORKSHOP SCOPE

Recent rapid advances in Mobile Cellular Networks, Cloud Computing, and Big Data have introduced Fog/Edge Computing as an interesting topic to the research community. Since its first appearance, the Fog/Edge Computing has received much attention from practitioners, scholars, and the general public. Considering that we are in the era of big data, many applications, such as the Internet of Things, Mobile Social Networks, and Smart City, keep generating data and interacting with the remote data centers all the time, which creates unique requirements and new challenges on the computation, storage, and communication. Thanks to the idea of the Fog/Edge Computing, tasks can be mitigated from the heavy-weighted data center to local devices, which not only reduces the workload of the data center but also accelerates the average serving speed. Many new techniques have been developed and are adopted in the Fog/Edge Computing. Due to the benefits of using Fog/Edge Computing, many emergent applications are now available for individuals, business enterprises, and governments. To this end, this workshop aims to create a platform for scholars, industry professionals, and government officials to discuss and share new research ideas and technologies in the Edge/Fog Computing and related applications.

TECHNICAL PROGRAM SCHEDULE: TBD

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Papers submission: June 1st, 2021. (Possible extension to June 10th, 2021.)
  • Notification of acceptance: July 10th, 2021.
  • Camera-ready paper due: July 31st, 2021.
  • Workshop date: October 7, 2021 (tentative).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

All submissions should be written in English and using IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Manuscripts style: single-spaced, double-column pages using 10pt size fonts on 8.5 x 11 inch pages, with side-margin at least 1 inch, including all figures, tables, and references, in PDF format. More information and template downloads can be found at the IEEE MASS main page.

Submitted papers should not be published or under review elsewhere.

Regular submissions are restricted to 6 pages.

Submission Link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=fecc2021.

REVIEW AND PUBLICATION OF MANUSCRIPTS

Submitted papers will be reviewed by the workshop Program Committee and judged on originality, technical correctness, relevance, and quality of presentation. An accepted paper must be presented at the IEEE MASS 2021 venue by one of the authors registered at the full registration rate. Each workshop registration covers up to two workshop papers by an author. Accepted and presented papers will be published in the MASS proceedings and submitted to IEEE Xplore as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases. IEEE reserves the right to exclude a paper from distribution after the conference, including IEEE Xplore® Digital Library if the paper is not presented by the author at the conference.

FECC 2021 PAPER SUBMISSION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Authors declare that the submission is original and has not been submitted to other venue or under consideration by other venues.
  • Paper titles and/or author names cannot be changed and/or added to the papers once papers are submitted to FECC 2021 for review and in the final camera-ready manuscript.
  • If the paper is accepted, at least one of the authors must register at full rate and present it in person at the conference. Accepted and paid paper(s) but not presented onsite by the registered author(s) (for any reason, including visa issues, travel problems, etc.) will be published in the conference proceedings only. We strongly encourage that all authors of accepted papers apply for an entry visa to Hawaii in case one author cannot get the entry visa.

REGISTRATION

Please note that at least one author of each accepted paper needs to register and present the paper at the workshop.

Please refer to the main conference MASS 2021 for registration information.

CONFERENCE VENUE

Please refer to the main conference MASS 2021 for hotel and local information.
