To reboot the Thermo Electron ICP/MS after a power failure or major repair

 

1. Using off icon to put the instrument into shut down mode.

 

2. Turn the computer off (Wait the turbo pump speed go below 10 Hz before turn the computer off).

 

3. Turn the embed PC off (the computer inside the instrument).

 

4. Turn the circuit breakers off (electronic, peltier cooling, and RF generator)

 

5. Make sure the gas is on. It is okay to turn the chiller off.

 

6. Wait for a minute then turn the circuit breaker back on (electronic, peltier cooling, and RF generator).

 

7. Wait for a minute then turn the embed PC on.

 

8. Wait until the COM OKAY come on then turn the computer on.

 

9. Wait until the MS come then open the MS icon check make sure the Ideal is come on inside the MS window.

 

10.Open the plasma lab software, go to tune page and reset the parameter back. Do not use the CCT parameter. Reset load and tune.

 

11.Put the instrument into the vacuum mode.

 

12.Wait until the vacuum pump down below the 4x10-7 before you try to ignite the plasma again. It should take about an hour. If the system asks you whether or not you did install the new detect, please say NO. And do not want to out gas the detector.

 

13.If the system did go to the operate mode, do not forget to turn the detector back on. In the tune page and the ≥Global≤ tab, verify that pulse counting and analog voltages are set to around 3000 ≠ 3200 and 1800 - 1900 respectively
