Basics
There are some basic commands in TACT, which work in all of the programs:
Enter/Return | Execute the current operation |
F1 | Obtain context - sensitive help |
F6 | Display credits (except in usebase, where the command is CTRL-F1) |
F9 | Same as Enter/Return, except in usebase |
F10 | Exit |
Esc | Often same as F10 |
UpArrow, DnArrow | Select the next or previous field |
LeftArrow, RightArrow | Move within the current item, if it is a field that allows entry of information such as a filename; change the option if it is a toggle. |
Following are the filename extensions commonly used for ASCII and Textual database files
.GIX | A group index file, created and modified within Usebase |
.LST | A file listing input files (Makebase, Buildbat). A file of output saved from Usebase displays, or a file of distinct word forms (Preproc) |
.MKS | A file of Editorial Conventions (Makebase, Buildbat) |
.QUE | A query file (Usebase, Collgen, Anagrams) |
.TDB | A textual database, output of Makebase or Mergebas(e). |
.TMP | Temporary files created during batch compilation of a large textual database. |
