Research

Ethiopian Scroll Manuscript, ca. early 19th century

My research interests have focused largely on globalization risk, energy, natural resources, education, and the economics of developing countries. Much of this has centered on Sub-Saharan Africa, and more recently, on economic issues in Asia. This page contains samples of recent work, some of which is related to my work as director of the Center for Economic Research on Africa (CERAF). Other research is summarized in my academic curriculum vitae.
