HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS
- For Tuesday, September 9:
- send me two emails, from different email accounts..
- One of these MUST be the MSU 'mail' account. It is "free" (you've already paid
for it, in your tuition), but you MUST use it for this course.
- See the full instructions on our Home page.
- Make sure that the Subject line of the email messages conforms to the
model at the bottom of our Home Page -
Subj: Lastname
HL date assignment is due.
- THIS IS A REQUIRED ASSIGNMENT. The fact that it is over the Internet doesn't
mean it is "optional" or "extra." If it is not sent in on time, you
will get an "F" for this assignment.
- For Tuesday, September 30 - On Van Gelderen, Chapter 4,
first part.
- For Thursday, October 2. - On Lerer, Chapters 1 and 2.
- For Tuesday, October 7 - On Van Gelderen, Chapter 4,
second part.

No Class today. But make sure you can navigate around, and use, the OED
well! It is an extremely useful tool!
- For Tuesday October, 14 -
NOTE: You have a guest professor today. Come to class! It is the polite thing to
do with a guest professor.
Dr Susana Sotillo is a professor of Linguistics and expert in many things. Do not hesitate
to "pick her brain." And YOU should teach HER about what you have learned about
the OED, and Van Gelderen and Drout.. We will continue that discussion Thursday, when I
will be back.
- For Thursday, October 16 - On Drout, Lecture 11 - that's
what we actually accomplished, in any case!
- For Tuesday, October 21 - We'll go over van Gelderen, Chapter 5 -- HW for October
14, above, don't do it yet again -- and Lerer, Chapter 3.
Again: if you did it for October 16, don't do it again.
NOW we'll be caught up!
- For Thursday, October 23 - On Van Gelderen, Chapter 6,
first part. We will probably not have time to do anything more than briefly review Lerer,
Chapters 4 and 5, so please read these chapters but there is no written assignment on
them.
Week of Tuesday, October 28 and Thursday, October 30. We'll devote
Tuesday to review. The Mid-Term will be held in class on Thursday.
